Since the movie June 28se in November of 2016, Moana has received much praise from critics. The film grossed more than $645 million globally and won several nominations for awards, including Best Animated Feature.
It’s safe to say that the Moana movie is among the most watched Disney films, and the reality that it’s based upon the real-life history and heritage of Polynesian islands only makes it more worthy. The plot is told through Moana, the strong-willed daughter of the Polynesian village chief who’s set to travel the ocean to find a goddess named Te Fiti with a mysterious artifact.
Moana sets sail across the ocean to seek the legendary Maui, but she encounters an enormous storm. After being damaged by the typhoon, Moana finds herself on an island that is not accessible to the public and is only able to interact alongside gods and creatures that are not human.
All of this leads to a question that must be asked: was Moana drowned during the storm or Did Moana Die in the Storm?

Did Moana Die in the Storm?
While Disney did not confirm it, according to popular theories, Moana passed away in the fog that shook the island at the start of the film. The theory is based on the fact that after being sunk by a ship, Moana only communicates with her grandmother. The latter died gods, demigods, and other legendary beings ( such as Te Ka and Maui), which implies that she could have perished. Another possibility is that Moana is somewhere in the realm of purgatory, or a mythological kingdom of gods, and Maui acts as her Guardian Angel. If Maui is indeed her guardian angel, this film may tell the story of her trip to heaven (Heaven ).
Although Disney is renowned for creating children’s favorite all-time classics, there are often more sinister theories that lurk below the surface. If you’re wondering if Moana is alive or dead and still alive, then you’re in the right spot. Read on to learn whether Moana actually died during the storm!

So what, did Moana actually perish during the hurricane?
Its focus is on bravery and self-discovery; Moana is a movie that has taken a dramatic departure from other princess stories. However, despite the positive message of the Disney film, people who watch it are frequently left questioning whether the movie is concealing a more disturbing message. In every film, there’s a dark theory that has been that is emerging. Not even children can escape these!
According to the theories of fans, Moana dies in the film’s first scene when we glimpse her face in the wreckage. After we see her disappear into the dark ocean in the next scene, we can see Moana being stranded on an island alongside Maui. This means that Moana is only seen engaging with non-human beings such as demigods, gods, and other mythical characters after the wreck. Only one exception to this is her defunct grandmother, which could mean that she has passed away.
The notion of Moana’s apparent suicide is further supported by the knowledge that she is able to effortlessly enter places that other mortals aren’t able to, like Lalotai and which is the Realm of Monsters. At certain points, Maui starts hinting that she might be a god herself since no normal mortal could have survived what she went through. There’s a choice – she did not survive at all.
Not only is it true that normal human beings wouldn’t be able to withstand a typhoon aboard an ordinary wooden boat, but they wouldn’t be able to traverse that distance with this ease. Through the film, Moana demonstrates superhuman abilities and doesn’t get injured, even in circumstances that could kill humans of ordinary age.
Moana is inspired through the spirit world by her grandmother, who passed away, Tala.
Before confronting Te Ka, Moana is returned to her grandmother, who has shown her love in the form of an ethereal blue ghost of a stingray. Tala, her grandmother and Moana are often in contact. Although this doesn’t necessarily mean that Moana passed away, since ghosts are generally believed to be able to show their ghostly selves to humans, It could be a sign that Moana is also dead. However, what caused fans to reconsider the situation was the possibility that Moana may have had a conversation with both her parents following an event, which could be a sign that she was dead.
After Tala’s demise, she presents Moana with an item that is said to hold Te Fiti’s soul. The necklace is believed as the sole thing to revive Te Fiti and, consequently, save Mona. The necklace is believed to have the ability to create life from scratch, which is helpful in the fan theories about Moana’s resurrection.
A few fans believe that Moana is dead in the middle of the film but is brought back to her former self at the end of the film. The only remaining mystery has to be Hei Hei, Her chicken companion who is with her on all of her travels through Polynesian islands.
To unravel the mystery surrounding Hei Hei, the fans have concluded that Hei Hei may be a spiritual guide. Or even a demigod as the guy could be able to survive anything she endured. Even though he doesn’t seem to have an issue, there is a possibility that the role he plays is significant in Moana’s story.
Moana as well as her chicken Hei Hei.
It is impossible to be 100 percent certain that Moana actually died at the start of the film since Disney did not fully confirm it. We are only able to speculate if she died and then reanimated in the final scene or if she did not die all the time she traversed through the Pacific Ocean. However, if the story of Moana’s death at the movie’s beginning is real, the people’s theories seem plausible.
It’s possible that Tala, who was nearing the point of dying herself, could see Moana in the sky and give her a necklace with the power to restore her to the world. If Maui was actually Moana’s guardian angel mission of transporting the princess into Te Fiti could actually represent the angel taking her to heaven. It’s possible that the entire movie was about her journey to the afterlife.
In the end, Disney likely chose to give this story a deeper meaning that is only understood by an investigation of the hidden metaphors and implications.
