Netflix has been providing us with several thrilling True Crime productions over the last few months, including the astonishing Tinder Swindler documentary to the story of con-artist Anna Delvey. Now, there’s a fourth production from the streaming giant, making the same kind of binge-worthy—the wild tale of a vegan restaurant owner who became a scammer Sarma MeIngailis.

Who is Sarma Melngailis?
Sarma Melngailis is the creator of New York vegan food hot spots, Pure Food and Wine, and One Lucky Duck. In a brand new docu-series about true crime known as Bad Vegan, the celebrity restaurateur who was once considered”the queen” of vegan food tells the story of her journey to becoming a fugitive and ran away when her husband manipulated her to steal money from her own company.

Where is Bad Vegan Sarma MeIngailis now?
Sara MeIngailis now lives in Harlem, New York, in an apartment with her 12-year-old dog Leon. The 49-year-old former restauranteur runs an online blog called Sarma Raw which she writes personal stories about her life. One of her blog posts said she’d love to create “at least a book” shortly. With the intention of “partially conveying things that happened in a way that may make some sense.”
Sara has been active in social networks and has an Instagram account dedicated to Leon @oneluckyrescuedog. It’s not known whether Sara is dating anyone. Bad Vegan star is dating anyone after she split Anthony Strangis and dalliance with lawyer Jeffrey Lichtman. She said to in the New York Post in 2018: “I have no desire to marry once more. I do not want to be in any relationship.”
It’s not clear what Sara is working on professionally at present. But she did tell the same publication that she wants to reopen her old Restaurant Pure Food and Wine:
“If there were some magical opportunity to open the same restaurant in the same place, I would do it in a heartbeat,” she added. “I think New York would take me back.”
