It certainly isn’t easy to be in the shoes of a child who has to go through these difficult questions, and so definitely, it would have been difficult for Amy Preasmyer’s daughter.

Who is Amy Preasmyer?

Amy Preasmyer is an American woman who came to fame in connection to his boyfriend’s murder. When Amy was 16 years old, she first met Ricky Cowles Jr. during a home party. Ricky had just earned his college degree, and Amy was in her second year of high school. Ricky was an electrician for his family’s company.

Soon, the duo started meeting often, and in no time, they had a romantic and harmless relationship between them. Ricky started to fall for her and showered her with lots of love and affection. He used to give her pricey presents and take her on vacations. 

But he had no idea that all would end and that this was just a temporary situation.

What Happened to Amy and Ricky’s Relationship?

Soon, things started to drift away when Amy realized she was pregnant with Ricky’s child in 1997. She assumed that Ricky had intentionally got her pregnant, and it would eventually put a full stop on her wildlife. 

However, Ricky, after knowing this, ensured he kept on loving her even more and showed his true affection to her. But Amy was not happy with being pregnant, and she started hating Ricky and the unborn child. Her hatred grew to the extent that she was searching for someone openly to kill Ricky.

She was 15 weeks pregnant when she hired a hitman and a former store clerk – Billy Hoffman, to kill Ricky. Billy, along with his live-in partner, Jennifer Kellogs, ambushed and murdered Ricky in his apartment. 

Amy Preasmyer and Her Unborn Child

After her boyfriend’s murder in 1997, Amy delivered her girl child sometime in 1998. Amy’s daughter Kayleigh was born in California, and she took care of her as a single mother. For eight years, Kayleigh continued to stay with her mother until 2005, when Amy was arrested for murdering Ricky.

In 2005, Amy was forced to give up her child’s custody, and two years after arrest, she was proven guilty of Ricky’s murder with life imprisonment.

Who Got Kayleigh’s Custody?

Deciding the custody of Kayleigh was not easy, and there was a long battle after Amy’s arrest. The custody battle was between Amy’s parents and Ricky’s parents. It was after long deliberations that both parents agreed to take care of their grandchild together.

Kayleigh’s custody was given to Amy and Ricky’s parents, and she was grown in their presence. She also stayed close to Ricky’s sister.

How was Amy’s Relationship with Her Daughter?

Amy was rumored to have disliked being pregnant at such a young age. She and her daughter did not share a close relationship, and there is no proof that the two ever spoke following her 2005 arrest.  

Before being found guilty, Amy did admit that her daughter was a private person who disliked sharing her actual emotions with others.

Kayleigh is a reserved girl and lives a quiet life with her four grandparents in California. She has no internet activity with her past surrounding her parent’s relationship and her mother’s crimes.
