Battlefield 2042 is a 2021 first-person shooter video game created by DICE and released through Electronic Arts. It is the 12th major installment of the Battlefield series, and it was released on the 19th of November 2021. It is available for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Contrary to previous games in this game series Battlefield 2042 is solely multiplayer, and doesn’t have a single-player campaign. It also offers cross-platform gameplay, which is a first for the series. Battlefield 2042 received mixed reviews from critics as well as some players due to technical issues and lack of content when it was released, and a few adjustments to gameplay.

Battlefield 2042 Split Screen

Unfortunately, Battlefield 2042 does not support split-screen gaming or any form game that is local-based multiplayer. To play with buddies, they’ll require a console as well as 2042 as a copy to play along with you.

This is typical to this particular Battlefield franchise. There was never any local co-op available as an option. It’s unfortunate, but it means that split-screen games will likely not be a reality until 2042. This is unfortunate since there are some scenarios where local multiplayer split-screen could be interesting to play with. Like a couple bot-based games that players have created in the past!

However, there are very few co-op events as you’ll find in other FPS alternatives. No story-mode or co-op campaigns or even a Nazi-themed zombie-type event. This game is probably made for online play. Given the amount of resources split-screen games consume it appears to be an idea that the majority of development studios are working on. It appears that DICE isn’t going to let players use their game simply.

The game Battlefield 2042, players can design their own custom co-op match using Battlefield 2042’s Portal mode. Portal lets players pick from a range of maps, experts weapons, and choices to customize their individual game kinds.

Is Battlefield 2042 a single-player game?

Unfortunately, 2042 has chosen to eliminate a single-player experience instead of a completely online game. In its place, Battlefield 2042 is split into All-Out Warfare, Portal and Hazard Zone that will let players play alongside other players online.
