Which Pokemon Need Metal Coat To Evolve?

Right now, in Pokemon Go, there are only two different Pokemon that you can evolve into their higher forms with the help of a Metal Coat as a mandatory item for the evolution process to take place.

These two Pokemon are Scyther and Onyx. Other than these two species, for now, you will not find any other Pokemon in the game for which you will need a Metal Coat as a necessary evolutionary item for the evolution.

Scyther is a Bug and Flying Type Pokemon, but when you use a Metal Coat and 50 Scyther candies to evolve it, it gets converted into a Scizor which is a Bug and Steel Type Pokemon.

So, here you can see that after this evolution, the new variant of this Pokemon deprives of the Flying Type that the former one had, while it has gotten some really good Steel Type moves.

On the other hand, if you have an Onyx, which is a Rock and Ground Type Pokemon and you happen to evolve it using a Metal Coat along with 50 Onyx Candies, you will receive the new Pokemon namely Steelix which is a Ground and Steel Type Pokemon.

So, here the Rock Sub Type of the Pokemon is replaced with the Steel Type.

How To Get Metal Coat In Pokemon Go?

Now that you know which Pokemon can be evolved with the help of Metal Coat, you must be willing to get this item to evolve one of those two Pokemon if you possess any. For this, you need to know where you can get this Megal Coat from.

Well, the most common way in which the players are able to obtain a Metal Coat in Pokemon Go is by spinning the Photo discs at the PokeStops. While a Metal Coat is not an item that frequently appears in these PokeStops, you can still try your luck.

If you are in dire need of a Metal Coat, you much spin as many PokeStop Photo Discs as you can so that you get it soon.

As per the records and observations, we can only say that you can receive either of the evolution items including Metal Coat, King’s Rock, Dragon Scale, or Upgrade on the seventeenth consecutive day of your regular PokeStop spinning.

The chances are quite low, but it is not at all impossible, so you can always give it a try, and if you are lucky enough you will get one Metal Coat within your 17 or maybe 34 days of regular spinning.

Wrap Up

So, the crux to this is there are currently only 2 Pokemon, Scyther and Onyx which require a Metal Coat for their evolution, so you need to get this item only when you have one of these two Pokemon and want to evolve it. Till then you can try to get your other evolutionary items based on the Pokemon you want to evolve.
