Dexterity in Elden Ring is one of the several properties that greatly influence how strong your character would be in the game. All these properties are called Elden Ring Stats, and there are eight Stats in total in this game – Dexterity, Faith, Intelligence, Endurance, Strength, Vigor, Mind, and Arcane. Each of them has a great significance in Elden Ring. 

What Does Dexterity Do In Elden Ring? 

There are several things for which Dexterity or DEX acts as the major attribute. Let us discuss each of them. 

1. To Wield Weapons

There are certain armaments in the game that are entirely based on Dexterity. So, for those Dexterity weapons Elden Ring has, Dexterity works as the primary modifier and affects the level of damage those weapons can deal with. 

When a weapon has to be wielded, there needs to be a minimum requirement of Stat without which wielding cannot be done. In most cases, this minimum Stat includes Dexterity, and sometimes Strength too. For instance, it requires 12 DEX plus 8 STR to equip Scimitar. 

Every weapon has a Scaling Grade which denotes to which degree that weapon scales with an attribute. As much as the points are allocated to the Dexterity stat, so will increase the amount of damage dealt by the weapons that have Dexterity scaling. 

It is the weapon that has Dexterity Scaling with an S grade which has the most benefit out of the Dexterity attribute, next to which is grade A and then B, C, D, and E. 

2. To Increase Cast Speed Of Incantations And Sorceries

3. To Reduce Fall Damage

Dexterity Elden Ring Soft Cap

There are variations in Dexterity Soft Cap which is based on what weapon it is and what type of damage is being scaled. By default, the scaling on physical damage is usually 16/60/80. In the case of some unique weapons and on keen affinities, the damage can be 20/60/80. Plus, on quality affinities, it is 16/60/80. 

The soft cap will be 20/50/80 in the rare cases when fire, magic, holy, or lightning scales on Dexterity. 

Dexterity soft caps amount to 15/30/45 when the incantation scaling of the Frenzied Flame Seal is scaled. 

How To Increase Elden Ring Dexterity?

To increase the Dexterity in Elden Ring, you can spend Runes on it. 

Soon after you have met Melina for the very first time moments after you begin the game, your ability to level up gets unlocked. 

Once you have unlocked it, you can level up Dexterity at any Site of Grace. Also, with an increase in the character level, the number of Runes you will need to level up Dexterity will also increase. 

You can collect runes by defeating the Bosses and your other enemies. You can also consume Fringefolk’s Rune and attain a fixed number of Runes in Elden Ring.
