Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

The title alone is enough to convince viewers that the movie was intended to be nothing more than a SyFy channel for entertainment. However, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter shows that an absurd idea can be successfully executed. The film is inspired by the graphic novel of the same title, and in several ways, it appears like an actual comic.

The action is exciting, the cinematography is stunning, and the connections to historical events happening at the time will be enough to make history buffs laugh. While it’s not an award-winning film, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter makes for an entertaining popcorn film.

Near Dark

When you think about Kathryn Bigelow, films like The Hurt Locker or Detroit come to your mind. Dark and gritty, these are the kind of thrillers that make you think. However, in the late 1990s, she began to explore vampires in The Near Dark, a film that wasn’t financially successful. But, as time passed, the film’s cult popularity developed mostly because of its actors.

It featured James Cameron alumni Bill Paxton, Lance Henriksen, and Jenette Goldstein. Near Dark is about the story of a man who is forced to join the middle of a group of vampires traveling after being attacked by one. They are dark and frightening, which was refreshing in a time when vampires were funnier.

Fright Night (2011)

Remakes are a challenge that is a difficult task to pull off. Fortunately, Fright Night had a cast who was devoted to the original. Colin Farrell plays the next-door neighbor vampire. The late Anton Yelchin plays the main person trying to stop him from.

That’s the thing “Fright Night” is notable for The ensemble cast. Colin Farrell is just as charismatic as Chris Sarandon, Anton Yelchin is an excellent leader, and the often overlooked David Tennant plays Peter Vincent flawlessly. Despite being an intelligent appeal to the 3D technology of the time, a bit too over the top, Fright Night is a fun, gory remake with a lot in common with the original.

Nosferatu: The Vampire

A different remake, the film Nosferatu is an iconic silent film that is still used in film classes even to this day. Therefore, the director Werner Herzog had a lot of confidence to tackle the classic. Luckily, his affection and love for the original are evident when he remade the legend of horror.

The infamous Count Dracula (or Count Orlok) was performed by German actor Klaus Kinski in the film. Although he’s not the best, he’s pretty close to being able to compete with Max Shreck from the original silent film. It’s ominous, creepy, and full of the right ambiance. As a film remake of a popular movie, Nosferatu’s The Vampyre could have been better.

30 Nights of Night

Imagine a typical zombie film with a group of survivors locked in the building but with vampires who look like beasts. This is the most comprehensive summary of 30 Days of Night. It takes an idea that is well-known and gives it a new twist. It is like the way Dog Soldiers did with werewolves.

While the characters successfully advance the plot, the main focus is the vampires. They are not the sharp teeth; they’re much more sinister with their black eyes, akin to demons. Danny Huston plays their leader and is, without doubt, one of the most notable vampire villains from the past couple of years.

Cronos

The term “vampire” has never been employed to describe a vampire in Cronos; however, Guillermo Del Toro put his distinctive impression on the idea. In his debut feature film, Del Toro features a mysterious insect-like device that grants immortality, however, at the expense of humanity and a desire for blood.

Cronos is a slow-burner, but it does not feel boring and builds up the suspense and the transformation of this lonely man into an evil monster. Through the many years, Cronos has been a cult foreign film within the horror genre because of the roots from Del Toro, but it’s just an entirely different approach to the vampire.

Van Helsing

In 2004, when Van Helsing made its debut in theaters 2004, the critics were quick to criticize it for the action-packed version of the iconic Universal monsters. Dracula and The Wolfman, Frankenstein, and Jekyll/Hyde all made it into the film. But, in the film Near Dark, Van Helsing received a huge following.

Van Helsing is a different popcorn film that enjoys its concept in its current form. It’s written by Stephen Sommers of The Mummy (1999) and has similar themes and adventure styles. The cast, Hugh Jackman, Kate Beckinsale, David Wenham, and Richard Roxborough, all bring the characters to life. The action of the werewolf and vampire is fun with an astonishing number of CGI that is still able to stand the test of time.

Daybreaks

The majority of vampire films are focused on stopping the spread of vampires. For instance, in Daybreakers, vampires are victorious and ravaging the Earth, and the blood supply is extremely low. In the meantime, an individual resistance group gets Ethan Hawke’s blood-geneticist to assist them.

With Hawke Willem Dafoe, Hawke along with Sam Neill in the cast, and Sam Neill in the cast, it’s not surprising to find that their performances are excellent. From a storytelling standpoint, Daybreakers is remarkable due to the number of vampire clichés it steers clear of and adds new elements to the mix regularly. The film is beautifully shot and is a mashup of many genres, from drama to action to sci-fi and horror; it’s a comprehensive vampire film.

Horror Of Dracula

When people hear the phrase “classic Dracula,” their mind immediately turns to Bela Lugosi. Lugosi is an icon and deserves to be known as an icon. However, there’s another Dracula available who is as excellent, if not even superior to Lugosi, and that’s Christopher Lee.

Hammer Films’ Horror Of Dracula was an enormous success in Europe; however, it remained one of the most cult films within the USA. Christopher Lee portrays one of the terrifying characters. The cold and gothic style of the film creates an amazing atmosphere. It was among the first films to get away with such a lot of gore and blood. The film could inspire a multitude of sequels and also encourage Tim Burton with many of his films.

Final Word

The idea of sharing a universe with iconic Universal monsters was a flash of inspiration. But the film Dracula Untold was not a success in the box office, Universal scrambled, and it was removed from it was the Dark Universe quickly died. Dracula Untold has gained its fan base, and fans believe that removing completely from The Dark Universe canon was a bad choice.

Luke Evans was perfect as the villainous Dracula. The movie is a dark, epic experience that feels like a mixture of Castlevania and classic Universal films. The film gives Dracula one of the greatest abilities ever seen in cinema. It establishes the universe in a well-constructed way and has helped bring vampires back as more than just romance characters. In the end, this film deserves an additional sequel and a chance to revive this Dark Universe.

Chris Evan was born in Quebec and raised in Montreal, except for the time when he moved back to Quebec and attended high school there. He studied History and Literature at the University of Toronto. He began writing after obsessing over books.
